Preview: Porcelain Black – Naughty Naughty (R3hab Remix)

While we eagerly await his and Swanky Tunes’ leviathan remix for Calling, R3hab adds another top-notch making to his host of widely acknowledged remixes, including remix duties for the likes of David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Tiësto and Katy Perry to name a few. Now taking on American pop rock songstress Porcelain Black’s latest single, the winds seem to keep turning in favour of this Breda-raised talent as he continues to prove himself a natural when it comes to turning radio-friendly hit singles into vigorous club-bangers. Whereas the original’s somewhat catchy instrumentals and the mysterious yet captivating voice of Alaina Marie Beaton have proven to be a chart-worthy combination fuelling the ride of Naughty Naughty notably up the charts, R3hab’s ‘Pacha NYC 6 AM’ remix unfolds a considerably lesser dose of weirdness in its characteristically warped lead, delightful interlude and heavy-stepping drop.

Preview: Chicane – Don’t Give Up (Norman Doray & Albin Myers Bootleg)

Any self-professing club aficionado appreciates that where timeless Electronic outings are concerned, Chicane’s infamous collaboration with Bryan Adams takes the biscuit as far as its longevity and continuous modern appeal are concerned. But where Chicane’s beloved original churned global hysteria from day one, the highly anticipated bootleg by Parisian House monger Norman Doray and his like-minded Swedish Peer Albin Myers has struck similar gold. First dropped in 2009 at Sunburn Festival in Goa, the suspense surrounding the duo’s much-adored take on the cultivating club anthem has been lapped up across the globe, making a swell of positive noise for this mysterious unofficial remodel from two of European House music’s most sought-after players.

Having donned his debut compilation to Strictly and with forthcoming stormer Trilogy alongside Arno Cost and Laidback Luke, Doray has proven himself a true European beatsmith, while Stockholm’s Myers has continued to whip up global recognition with his solid peak time offerings while relishing in the hotly anticipated Hells Bells for Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label. Together, however, this Progressive dream-team mark an all-time-high for exciting and high quality bootlegs. Fusing Chicane’s unforgettable synth line with their own haunting ethnic lead, the duo drive an impressively heavy backbone into this defining Euphoric history-piece, bringing an essential 21st century front of dancing melodics and well-oiled beats to do a world of justice to this imaginative imitation that boasts twice the energy and excitement of the original. In an age where fusing an accapella to an instrumental constitutes a bootleg, Doray and Myers’ optimal efficiency and undeniable care in the preservation of the energetic backbone to this adored club classic mark that as well as being two of the modern industry’s most respectful players, their ability to make something amazing out of Dance music’s rich history is unrivalled.

This Don’t Give Up bootleg is released January 15th via our site.

Free Downloads: Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero – Freaky / Slacking

The pair that primarily crossed paths along with Fedde Le Grand’s request to have Nicky Romero remix his successful ‘Rockin’ High’ single in late 2010 seem to have found themselves making up one heck of a contrast as they now, in celebration of Nicky’s birthday and to welcome the new year with glamour, release two of their eagerly-awaited collaborations free of charge. Previously told to be an installment on Mark Knight’s Toolroom label, Freaky headlines this free give-away EP with a monumental showcase of the duo’s reputable productions skills in its robotic vocal, heavy-stepping and dominant kickdrums and builds of warped sounds. Accompanied by the brilliantly sweeping and contorted electro-house lead, grinding baselines, discreet percussions, pounding kicks and attitude-filled MC Gee vocal of Slacking, this two-track package now out for free sets the standards for 2012 awfully high.

Preview: Taurus & Vaggeli – Motorpunk [Rising]

Like they well indicated throughout 2011, the Philadelphia-based Angelo Bratsis and Leon Weingrad, professionally known as Taurus & Vaggeli, are in possession of just the right amount of production proficiency and creativity to star as this year’s break-through act in tech-house. Fairly recognizable from last year’s release of Lifted through Hotfingers and the single contribution, Vamos, to Funk Farm’s first compilation, Taurus & Vaggeli return to preview a part of their upcoming debut on Chris Lake’s Rising Music, the label responsible for the recent outing of Jim Breese’s Get Movin. Set to release as part of an EP called ”Transporter”, Motorpunk is the American’s first single revealed in 2012. Upon a set of well-crafted baselines and throbbing kicks, Motorpunk adds dark and chugging sounds along with some frisky synth plays to make up a diverse and noteworthy production.

‘Motorpunk’ is released January 20th as part of the Transporter EP.

Preview: Shilo – Music Over Mind

Primarily known as his hardstyle moniker Headhunterz who jetted in at #17 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ’s poll in 2011, the Netherlands-bred Willem Rebergen was recently spotted venturing the popular grounds of House music with the launch of a new production alias – Shilo. With a significant electro-house appeal, Music Over Mind is one of the three first offerings from Shilo in his attempt to infiltrate House music aristocracy alongside his onslaught as a prominent figure in hardstyle. Featuring a growling, wobbly and utmostly captivating electro-house lead along with playful and synth-filled interludes and meaty kicks, ‘Music Over Mind’ indicates that this Dutchman also holds the qualities to become a leading figure within the electro-house scene this year.

Preview: Flo Rida feat. Sia – Wild Ones (David Guetta & Nicky Romero Remix)

With mixed enthusiasm and a lot of speculation surrounding a controversial fusion of two allegedly opposite musical forces, the R&B/House crossover has continued to turn heads in a mixture of delight and disgust across the globe. Already firm contributors to this regenerative process of chart monotony, David Guetta and Nicky Romero have proven competent in making positive noise out of the often predictable and mundane realms of popular music.

Picking up the original pieces of the hip hop / Dance oriented original, the French superstar and hotly tipped Dutch hopeful team up for an offering that offers a positive light on the high-risk venture. Opting for Sia’s graceful vocal work over the less-appealing enunciations of the track’s Floridian rhyme smith, Romero and Guetta build an emotive canvas of delicate keys and rising leads before launching into a hard-hitting offering of growling riffs and chugging Electro-tinged House music. Popular music is trying very hard to have its way with Electronic Dance music and with the potential for remodes of the calibre, there are far worse things happening in Dance music than this increasingly popular musical coupling.

The David Guetta and Nicky Romero remix of Flo Rida and Sia’s Wild Ones is due out shortly.

Already a YouTube sensation for his widely supported debut and receiving steady support from the likes of Tiësto enroute, the young producer takes a heavy-handed drop into a positively charged Electro House clash of extreme synth play and big room vibes, pushing his finely developed studio intellect to an all-time-high for a year that promises great things for the budding producer.

Libella is set to release soon.

Preview: Paul Thomas – Buzz Killington (Incl. Funkagenda Remix)

Featuring his well-known mixture of rolling sounds and chunky tech-house beats to later break down into an interlude of a set of catchy, high-pitched synth lines and solid kicks, Buzz Killington validates this Birmingham-bred producer as a key piece within the acknowledged progressive/tech fusion. Set to release soon alongside the original mix is also a quite distinctive interpretation from head honcho Funkagenda himself, who preserves the enchanting synth-filled lead while trading the thick tech beats for a soft injection of dubstep to give this else beefy track a more relaxing appeal.

Preview: Eric Turner – Dancing In My Head (Avicii’s ‘Been Cursed’ Mix)

Dealing in distinct bursts of elusive synth play and emotive vocals, his new his remix of Eric Turner’s Dancing In My Head see’s Avicii outsource his unique floor filling intellect to new and promising avenues for 2012, adding that signature strike of well-executed force to turner’s noteworthy original. Release: Tiësto – What Can We Do (A Deeper Love) (Incl. Third Party Remix)

Unrecognisable in sound compared with the original Dance icon that set ablaze the Olympic Games in Athens back in 2004 with a euphoric display of athletic Trance wizardry, Tiësto’s early Christmas present carry’s on his more recent grasp on the Housier side of affairs. For this soulful vocal explosion of emotive builds and hard-hitting synthesisers, Tiësto attempts bridges the gap between traditional and Progressive House, using the emotional charged vocals of Anastacia to bring the remnants of House’s heyday to his up-in-the-air onslaught of conceptual club floor chivalry. While sure to be sour milk to those still reeling in the memories of his Trance-orientated heyday, What Can We Do (A Deeper Love) attempts to bring a genuine sense of progression to the table and while not bragging the life changing afterthoughts of his previous work, it is a sure indicator that there is some steam left in the original Dutch super producer.

Mixtape: Zedd – The Mothership Vol. 2

With the second appearance on Owsla, titled Slam The Door, coming up for release in early January 2012, Zedd comes out with a distinguished 90 minute showcase of his favourite sounds released over the past 12 months. Free Download: Adele – Someone Like You (Arias Version)

In an era where many producers tend to be unable to forge their own unique path but follow in others’, French DJ and producer phenomen Arias comes as an eminent innovator. Despite his few appearances on the production side of things, examples have testamented to the limitless scope of the Parisian’s creativity and ingeniousness. Primarily known for the eagerly-awaited and wildly underestimated The Days To Come with fellow partner in crime Arno Cost and vocalist Michael Feiner, it comes as no surprise that this talented Frenchman has laid his hands on the distinguished Someone Like You by Adele for an alternative interpretation now out to download for free in the most sentimental of times – Christmas. Mixing Adele’s soulful and outrightly incredible voice with soothing and mysterious undertones to later pave the way for a significant turn to proceedings and switch into a progressive synth play with hints of nostalgic French house and dominant bass lines, Arias’ version of Someone Like You is arguably one of the better ones to have surfaced this year.

Preview: Antoine Clamaran & Vince M. – Feeling You (Romeo Blanco Remix)

Recognized by his characteristic synth plays that has helped him build the groundworks as a producer of Flamingo Recordings and promising aspirant from Belgium, Romeo Blanco follows the release of his Universal Love on Flamingo and his well-received take on Florence and The Machine’s What The Water Gave Me to officially remix the next single in line for release from French Dance music icon Antoine Clamaran and Paris-based Vince M. Borrowing merely just the vocals from Soraya off of the trance-influenced original of Feeling You, we see the 24 year old Belgian apply his unique knitted and rapid synth-filled melodies atop the somewhat catchy voice of Soraya and beefy undertones and complement that frisky way of looping a vocal tone to shape an enchanting sound-like progression.

The Romeo Blanco remix of ‘Feeling You’ is released January 9th via Sony Music.

Preview: Michael Canitrot – White Escape [Aime]

Already acclaimed for its fundamental passion for art and fashion, only Paris could have conjured the driving unity of creative clubbing and stimulating club cuts that we now associate with prolific Parisian Michael Canitrot. As the driving force behind clubbing brand ‘So, Happy In Paris?’ , his open-minded approach has seen him don his mixing skills to events for the Cannes Film Festival and D&G while pushing a steady output of solid club offerings to the world alongside the likes of Ron Carroll and Polina.

White Escape is set for release on December 26th via his own Aime Music.

Release: Matisse & Sadko – Amulet [Pilot 6 / Armada]

Like a set weapon of dancefloor filling capacity, the dark hybrid that is Amulet recently emerged after a premiere on Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance radio show. Similar to the grooming of the aforementioned triumphs, Amulet is a genuine brew of a mysterious chant that you would expect from the Scandinavian Lapps, extended, symphonic notes and dominant rolling sounds, tipped by a perfectly pitched trance synth loop, the newest single from Matisse & Sadko appears as a track any drove of fist-pumping club music heads would joyfully bear.

Release: Avicii – Levels (Cazzette & Skrillex Remixes)

Currently encapsulating the extended love affair between Dub Step and Electro House, ex Emo heartthrob turned solid House-Step seamstress Skrillex continues a brave spate of redressage amid speculation that this increasingly popular sub-genres popularity may not be going anywhere too fast. In the expected bass heavy outing of low wobbles and crazy pitch-play, Sonny Moore doesn’t do the original much wrong with this darker and distorted offering.

Swedish House Mafia @ Madison Square Garden – 16-12-2011

Sold out in less than ten minutes, the Swedish House Mafia show at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York, USA is one for the books and an event certain to break new ground for electronic dance music. After a persistent rise since Steve Angello, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso initially teamed up as Swedish House Mafia for the release of One in early 2010, they have seen the full-blown reformation in terms of House music becoming a permanent force in clubbing and on radio stations across the globe. But in truth, there was not that much of an outlook as it was playing essential roles as the pioneers for the Swede’s who today stand firmly rated as three of the most intriguing acts in electronic dance music with self-evident headliner positions on any top-tier dance event, both as a trio and as acclaimed solo artists. With the new, fourth single, titled Antidote, out and also starring the Pendulum side project Knife Party, made up by Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, the Swedish super group is undoubtedly a dominant force in clubland and one worthy of making the very first, ground-breaking DJ appearance at the spacious and nostalgic venue that is Madison Square Garden.

Live Preview: Hard Rock Sofa – Quasar [Axtone]

2011 has seen Hard Rock Sofa become one of this year’s most essential assets to the progression of the club music scene. Whilst thriving utterly from such trademarks as Phantom, True Emotion, remixes for Don’t Cry and In The Air, the looming signature kickdrum combinations of the three Smolensk-bred Russians come forward yet again. This time, to officially follow up their blinding debut on Axtone Records, Blow Up, with a second tremendous installment on the record label of Axwell.

Release: Swedish House Mafia vs. Knife Party – Antidote

Alongside Knife Party, the beloved House moniker of Pendulum’s Rob Swire and Garteh McGrillen who have made increasingly positive noise for British Dance music, Antidote see’s the Swedes wonder outside of their comfort zone for something of a risky nod to the wider spectrum of global Dance music. To many, ‘Antidote’ will instead serve as a well-ironed indicator of the trio’s uncanny adaptation skills that have championed them as European ambassadors to their craft. Dealing in heavy blows of distorted wobbles and a streaking display of schizophrenic synth play, Knife Party appear to have brought a lethal injection of their own highly acclaimed fusion of Electro House and the increasingly popular ‘marmite-genre’  Dofubstep.

Release: Serge Devant ft. Coyle Girelli – On Your Own (David Tort Remix)

Armed with a crunching electro sound, the mesmerizing vocals of Coyle Girelli and uplifting overtones, the Barcelona producer rounds the proceedings of his 2011 off gracefully with his second ever remix on the Ultra Records-signed Brooklyn-based Devant. David Guetta – Nothing But The Beat (The Movie Documentary)

The movie documentary of internationally acclaimed David Guetta, entitled Nothing But The Beat as his recent fifth artist album, is the story behind the successful and immensely popular Frenchman’s road to global domination. With a host of hit singles such as Love Is Gone, When Love Takes Over and Gettin’ Over You amongst many other chart-topping jams under his belt, Guetta is, whether a few may feel he’s sold himself to the masses or not, a pioneer of House music and one of the key reasons as to why electronic dance music DJ’s and producers are the new rockstars and perhaps even a reason as to why some of you are reading this right now.

Release: Chuckie – Who Is Ready To Jump (Dada Life Remix) [Big Beat]

Chuckie’s newest single,  Who Is Ready To Jump, the remix treatment. Release: Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – Lethal Industry [Spinnin]

Returning from their remix on C’Mon earlier this year, the pair is out with a new distinguished revision on another anthem from  Tiësto –  Lethal Industry. Borrowing the sustained main lead of the original trance composition from their fellow compatriot, the Amsterdam residents add their eccentric blend of rolling sounds and powerful kicks for the follow-up single to their debut on Subliminal – Tribeca. Establishing their enchanting sound along with numerous installments on Dirty Dutch Records, Size Records and the duo’s own Bald And Hairy label over the past two years, Sunnery and Ryan have forged their path onto clubland notably.

Release: Dada Life – Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker [So Much Dada]

Dada Life continue their onslaught on electronic dance music as their next jaw-dropper has officially released. A mere year after the initial release of their ground-breaking Unleash The Fucking Dada, their unique and trend-setting take on the harder face of electro-house thrives further as another ridiculously yet brilliantly entitled single has emerged from the powerhouses that are Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom. Following a year of iconic success from the use of near to cacophonic-sounding beeps and grinding electro-house chords, the Swede’s put their prolific signature beep aside to pursue the rise of mighty electro-house wobbles, a kicking bass and monstrous, acid-like chords you would expect to hear from Swanky Tunes all complimenting each other in one hotly tipped concoction. Also supplemented by sweeping pads in the ever so fierce break-down, the follow-up release to the remix to Big Bad Wolf and Happy Violence, titled Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker, might just be their best work to date.

‘Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker’ is out now via their newly launched So Much Dada label.
